Company History

Spot On Cleaners was established in 1958 in the Fordsburg area of Johannesburg and is a 4th generation, family owned laundry. The laundry has expanded over the years to become the largest and most modern commercial / industrial Family run and owned laundry in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The laundry operates according to the SANS 10146 standards (Industry Benchmark) which is our customers’ guarantee of a superior service and ensures optimum levels of hygiene and cleanliness.

We have the productive capability to process 3 – 4 tons or 8,333 pieces of laundry per hour or 1.6 million pieces of soiled textiles per month.

In the spirit of the New South Africa, we are proud to say that Spot On Cleaners is Level 1 BBBEE certified – and has been for the past several years

Spot On History

1958 - Spot On founded and located in Fordsburg, Johannesburg;

1970 - Relocated to larger premises and re-branded to become ‘Empire Laundry’ located in Bree Street, down-town Johannesburg;

1980 - Relocated again in 1980 to the significantly larger premises located at the current facility in Hay Street, Ophirton / Booysens under the stewardship of the current Managing Director - Nash Nathoo;

1993 - First commercial laundry in South Africa to install the very latest Continuous Batch Tunnel Washer;

2003 - A dedicated Healthcare processing facility – with 2 additional Batch Tunnel washers was created so all Healthcare work and Hospitality work are processed in 2 separate factories – each of ±3,000m2;
